LAHORE: In light of the ongoing lack of new local content in Pakistani cinemas, the Distribution Club has announced the rerelease of two Urdu feature films, Kamli and Zarrar, on May 16.
This initiative is aimed at supporting the cinema industry and offer audiences an opportunity to revisit quality local productions on the big screen.
In a statement, Abid Sheikh Rasheed, the executive director of Distribution Club, said: “As cinemas continue to face a shortage of new local films, we are bringing back two Urdu feature films that had previously garnered attention for their unique storytelling and direction. This rerelease is part of our effort to sustain viewers’ interest in Pakistani cinema.”
Kamli, directed by Sarmad Khoosat, is a poetic and visually immersive drama that explores themes of longing, mystery and emotional confinement. With powerful performances and a hauntingly beautiful narrative, the film was praised for its artistic depth.
Kamli and Zarrar to be rereleased on 16th
Zarrar, directed by and featuring Shaan Shahid, is an action-thriller centered on a patriotic intelligence officer uncovering threats to national security. The film combines action with a message of duty and sacrifice. Both films will be screened in cinemas nationwide from May 16.
