KOHAT: Speakers at a function here the other day paid homage to noted Pashto literary figure Mumtaz Ali Khan Khattak.
The ceremony was held at Government Postgraduate College, Kohat, presided over by Pashto poet Saeed Rahbar.
Poets Saadat Ali Sahar and Dr Iqbal Fana also attended the event as guests of honour
The ceremony was hosted by Dr Shakir Orakzai.
Prof Wazir Shadan, while welcoming the guests, highlighted the formation and objectives of Pokhtana Adabi Malgari (PAM), Kohat. He also threw light on the life and literary services of Mumtaz Ali Khattak.
Feroz Khan Sadiq presented a detailed article on the life and achievements of Mumtaz Ali Khattak, which was highly appreciated by the audience.
The event was also graced by the elder son of Mumtaz Khattak, Shaukat Khattak, who is a radio broadcaster.
Prof Fazal Rahim Fazil, Dr Iqbal Fana, and Saadat Ali Sahar also spoke about the efforts and services of Mumtaz Ali Khattak.
On the occasion, Mumtaz Ali appreciated the formation of PAM.
MAN WITH HASHISH HELD: The Junglekhel police foiled an attempt to smuggle 60 kilogrammess of hashish from Khyber district to Punjab by arresting a man driving a car at the Gunshanabad checkpost here the other day.
The alleged smuggler was identified as Aftab Ali, belonging to Nowshera district.
SP city Kamal Hussain, along with SP headquarters Bedar Bakh, told mediapersons that SHO Junglekhel Imranuddin, accompanied by a team, stopped a suspicious car and, upon search, recovered hashish from its secret cavities, packed in one-kilogramme packets each.
They said operations against drug peddlers were continuing under the directives of district police officer Dr Zahidullah Khan.
A case had been registered against the smuggler under the Narcotics Control Substance Act, 2017.
